Best Spots in Islamabad to go for a Walk/Run

Islamabad is a beautiful city but finding a good spot to run and walk can be challenging. Though not everyone has access to a car or can walk to these spots, if you ever craving a long walk, or want to lose yourself in nature, or even want to our on an outing with your family, here are 5 spots that will not disappoint!

Fatima Jinnah Park

Also known as F-9 Park, it is one of the largest parks in the city of Islamabad. Spanning a whole sector, it is a beautiful place with a kids play area, tennis courts, artistic statues, and much more. It is also a fun place if you want to challenge yourself! Many people try to walk from one gate to another. One very common route is walking from Gate 3 Khyber in front of Air and Bahira University to Gate 2 Bolan which leads directly to F-10 Markaz. You can find grocery stores, stores, and restaurants where you can sit down and enjoy a light juice or meal. You can also walk from Gate 4 (Ravi) or Gate 1 (Mehran) to Gate 2. Really, it’s all up to you!

Trail 5

Though this is a hiking trail, it is also an excellent place to go for a long walk. On sunny days, it is a beautiful mixture of green foliage, upward sloping trails, and fauns. However, beware of taking food with you! There are monkeys in the surrounding area and if they see you with food, they will attack you. Not only will they not only snatch your food away but bite you leading to multiple hospital trips and too many injections to count. Monkeys aside, however, the scenery is simply breathtaking in Trail 5 and if you’re feeling adventurous you can hike all the way to Monal and enjoy looking down at Islamabad whilst enjoying the finest dishes!

Rose and Jasmine Garden

Jasmine Garden is by no means boring. It's home to a pirate ship you can get on with your friends if you enjoy the thrill of carnival rise. Just make sure you don’t eat anything heavy beforehand! It also has multiple kid playgrounds, if you are in the mood to relive a nostalgic moment. And, if you are lucky enough you might even find a horse you can sit on, and go for a walk around the park. The park itself is not amongst the largest in the city. However, you can be sure to have blast with your friends if you come to this park!

Lake View Park

Located at Rawal Dam, Lake View Park is not only an ideal picnic spot with your friends or family but it also has a host of fun activities you can undertake. You can go to the aviary and watch a host of local and global bird species. There is also a paintball arena, and rock climbing facility if you’re going with your friends! If you are more interested in the lake itself you can always go on a boat ride and watch as the shore disappears and you’re surrounded by water and the fish! Despite this, over the years, however, the once clear and beautiful water of the dam has been polluted. This is why if you are planning to go to this park, do not throw your trash in the water!

Pakistan Monument

A pillar of modern architecture that combines Mughal traditions, Pakistan Monument represents the faith, unity, and discipline of the diversity of cultures that make up the country. The monument is shaped like a flower and each flower illustrates the rich history and culture of the country. Moreover, the place is also host to the only wax museum in Islamabad, which recounts the history of how Pakistan came into existence.

And these are the best walking/running spots in Islamabad if you are ever craving a long walk. By visiting these spots you will be surrounded by nature and finally, get a breath of fresh air!
