How Plan Your Semester To Boost Your GPA
Planning and
organizing is very important behind every success. When you are organized, you
automatically reduce the amount of time and effort. Planning help you to focus
more on unexpected problems and matters. If we make a plan at the start of the whole
semester and follow accordingly it will impact positively in our educational
achievements and GPA. Our GPA (Grade Point Average) is the average grade we hold
across our entire academic career. It fluctuates depending on the grades we
earn in each of the classes we take. Each grade we receive for each class we
take over a semester goes toward our GPA. The average of these points is our
GPA.
BE PUCTUAL:
Many teachers give lectures directly from power point
and post the slides to the university portal. This makes it easy for students
who skip classes that any time when they want to study they download lectures
from portal and learn the material on their own. This will help you in easy
courses but you will face problems in challenging ones. By skipping classes
students miss out many important things and concepts like detailed verbal explanations
that are key to understand basic concepts, chance to ask any question about
topic and listen to the other question answers special announcements and
opportunities to get extra credit. If you frequently miss out classes it will
leave a bad impression on your instructor that he or she perceived and thought
that you disrespect for the teacher and the subject matter. It will also impact
on attendance may be at the end of the semester your attendance get shorted
because of attending short classes.
PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES:
Class participation shows your teacher that you
are interested and eager to learn. It will also help you to remember discussion
and material from class to class. You first need to sit in the first row. It will
build your self-confidence and automatically engage you in the lecture. Moreover
you will develop a relationship easily with the teacher and have a much easier time
maintaining focus. When you are asking questions you think in a creative way. Asking
questions will help you clarify topics that might have confused you and gives
teacher opportunity to present the same material in a different way.
ORGANIZE YOURSELF:
Organizing and planning is the key to success. Planning
strategy complements your schedule and learning style. Teaching style of each
teacher is different. Some teachers use power point slides to deliver their
lectures and some give handouts and text books. The best way to handle this
problem is to develop a note taking system that works with each teachers
teaching style. It can help you throughout the semester and contribute your
motivation better. Try using an expandable folder with dividers to organize your
papers from each class. Create a-to do list everyday include small goals you
want to accomplish. Use a weekly planner to write down what is due in your classes
each week. It will help you to prioritize when you create a study schedule for
the week. When your exams are coming put them into a planner and start planning
a schedule.
APPROACH THE COURSE LECTURER:
Teachers make themselves available for their students
at regular times during the week to ask questions about any topic they want. You
can take advantage of this opportunity. It will help you clearly understand
problems that are not clearly explained in the lectures and build your
reputation as a high effort student who deserves high grades. If you have an
issue with the grades you are currently getting you may talk this issue to the
teacher and demanded for change of your grades.
JOIN GOOD FELLOWSHIP:
Courses that involve group work, assignments and
projects you need to make a group for them.as in projects no one want to do all
the work themselves. Working with smart people will facilitate discussion. People
to whom we are working with also affect our academic career. If you are working
and sitting with bad students who are not interested in learning you are
behaving like them and cannot concentrate on your studies. You should make a
group with students who have similar interests and ambitions. If you are making
friendship with high GPA students they will help you in the courses that seems
difficult to you.
STUDY SMART BY USING LIBRARY AND INTERNET RESEARCH:
Some teachers offer opportunities for extra
credit you try to take advantage of them. Extra credits boost your average and
enhance your experience. Study smart means setting realistic goals that
determine to work hard. In order to improve your grades you need to do a lot of
hard work. Our study time will be more productive if we use university library.
Reading a lot makes you better thinker and better student. Library will help
you in research projects. Moreover English books give you diverse sources of
information. Online research will help you to tackle difficult course. There are
so many you tube videos and online explaining concepts that will help you to
manage difficult course. You can download material relevant to your course to
have a good grasp over a difficult course.
CONCLUSION:
Being smart will help you to get good grades but
it is not enough. Neither is studying nonstop. The key to academic success is
being disciplined, organized, setting realistic and smart goals and efficient
in your study habits.
